Dealing with delayed luggage is a major headache, and at Opodo, we want to make it as painless as possible. Discover how our Baggage Tracking & Compensation Service helps recover your bags for you so that you can get back to focusing on your travels.
What is the Baggage Tracking & Compensation Service?
This is an optional service designed to take the stress out of dealing with lost luggage. We proactively track and help return your delayed checked baggage within 96 hours of your arrival.
If we can't get your bag back to you within this 96-hour window, we’ll compensate you with the equivalent of €1000 in your local currency. It's hassle-free: no questions asked, and you don't need to provide any proof of what was inside your baggage.
The good news is that you get to keep this money even if your bag is delivered later, and this payment is completely separate from, and in addition to, any other travel insurance claims you may have.
How can I use this service?
- File the airline’s PIR form: you must file a Property Irregularity Report (PIR) with the airline within 3 hours of your flight's arrival and keep the reference number.
- Report the baggage issue to us: let us know about your lost or delayed baggage within 24 hours of your arrival and provide your PIR reference number.
- Let us handle the recovery: we'll take over the process from here. We'll represent you and work directly with the airline to locate your luggage, keeping you updated.

Receive your compensation: If the airline doesn't return your luggage within 96 hours, you'll automatically receive your €1,000 compensation (in your local currency)
